I want to photograph a couple at ALL of you. 😂
There are so many beautiful wedding venues across Michigan, and lately I’ve been putting together my ultimate photographer bucket list. The kind of list that makes me want to grab my camera bag, hop in the car, and chase beautiful light all over the state.
From historic estates and grand ballrooms to glasshouses, waterfront properties, charming inns, and Detroit architecture, these are the venues currently living rent-free in my photographer brain.
And honestly? I would be thrilled to photograph a wedding at every single one. Do you think I could do it within 2 years? I am starting off strong with two being checked off this year…
Detroit Wedding Venues
1. Shinola Hotel — Detroit, Michigan
Let’s start with a classic.
Shinola Hotel is the kind of place that feels made for editorial wedding photography. The architecture, textures, details, beautiful interiors, and unmistakable Detroit character give you so many opportunities for portraits that feel polished without feeling overly posed.
And then there are the city streets outside.
Give me a couple dressed to the nines, downtown Detroit, and that beautiful city light? Yes, please.
Shinola offers several event spaces, including Bixby Hall and the Birdy Room, so there are plenty of different visual possibilities depending on the wedding.
Inside The Shinola Hotel – The Birdy Room
This is the glass-ceilinged atrium — honestly, probably my favorite space at Shinola for photography. It has the black steel framework, terrazzo floor, hanging greenery, marble bar, and tons of natural light. The hotel says it can accommodate up to 150 standing or 70 seated.
The Birdy Room is the one I’d be most excited about as a photographer. That glass ceiling + Detroit architecture outside + all that natural light is chef’s kiss. 😍

2. State Savings Bank — Detroit, Michigan
Historic architecture + a wedding day = I’m already sold.
State Savings Bank has that grand, dramatic feeling that makes me want to photograph every little architectural detail. I can already picture elegant portraits, candlelit reception images, and a couple wandering through the space together while I document the in-between moments.

3. Detroit Institute of Arts — Detroit, Michigan
I mean…
THE DIA.
Getting to photograph a wedding surrounded by incredible art and architecture would be an absolute dream. There is something so special about creating wedding photographs in a space that already feels like a work of art.
This is one of those venues where I would probably spend half the day looking around thinking, “Wait… can we take photos THERE too?”

4. The Chapel at Castle Rouge — Detroit, Michigan
Romantic chapel architecture, beautiful details, and that old-world feeling right here in Detroit?
Absolutely.
I can already imagine the ceremony photographs, dramatic portraits, veil movement, and all of those quiet moments before and after the “I do.”

5. Marygrove Conservatory — Detroit, Michigan
Premier Wedding Package
Another one that immediately makes my photographer brain happy.
A conservatory setting gives you so much to work with — greenery, architecture, beautiful natural light, and a romantic atmosphere that feels completely different from a traditional ballroom.
Marygrove is definitely on the list.

6. Meadow Brook Hall — Rochester Hills, Michigan
This one is a BIG one on my bucket list.
Meadow Brook Hall has the kind of architecture and grounds that can make wedding portraits feel like they’re straight out of another era. Is it even real? Prove it to me please!
Give me a couple exploring the estate, a long veil, gorgeous florals, and that architecture in the background…
I’m there.
7. Pine Knob — Clarkston, Michigan
Pine Knob has such a beautiful Michigan estate feel, and I would absolutely love the chance to photograph a wedding there.
Everything from getting-ready moments to romantic outdoor portraits and a gorgeous sunset session. The elegant grounds and timeless interiors are designed to transport you, your guests…and your photographer…into a celebration that feels effortlessly luxurious and uniquely you.

8. The English Inn — Eaton Rapids, Michigan
OPE – this one already got checked off. But I’ll leave it here for you to discover.
There is something incredibly romantic about a historic inn surrounded by gardens and the Grand River.
The English Inn offers multiple intimate wedding spaces and sits on a 16-acre estate, which means there is plenty of atmosphere beyond just the reception room.
This feels like the perfect place for a wedding gallery filled with quiet, romantic moments.

9. Greencrest Manor — Battle Creek, Michigan
A manor wedding?
Yes.
Absolutely yes.
Greencrest Manor has been on my list because of that elegant, European-inspired estate feeling. I would LOVE to photograph a couple here with a really editorial, romantic approach — lots of movement, beautiful details, and portraits that feel timeless.
10. Castle Farms — Charlevoix, Michigan
A castle in Northern Michigan.
I mean, it’s a castle.
Need I say more?
Castle Farms is one of those venues that makes you feel like you’ve left Michigan entirely. I would love to photograph the architecture, the grounds, the details, and especially a couple who is completely up for exploring the property together.

Romantic Michigan Farm & Garden Venues
11. Robin Hills Farm — The Glasshouse — Chelsea, Michigan
This one is especially exciting because The Glasshouse is basically a photographer’s dream.
This another I get to check off my list THIS YEAR! But again, leaving it here for you!!
Robin Hills Farm is a 129-acre property just outside Ann Arbor, and the Glasshouse has floor-to-ceiling windows with views overlooking Sawyer Pond. The property also has trails, fields, woods, and multiple event spaces.

12. Planterra Conservatory — West Bloomfield, Michigan
A conservatory wedding is basically a love language for photographers and creatives.
Plants, glass, architecture, natural light, romantic details…
I’m sold. And so are thousands of others who have already discovered this venue and have been dreaming of just being here. Please take me with you!
I would love to create a gallery here that feels lush, romantic, and editorial while still capturing all of those candid moments that make a wedding gallery feel like your story.
13. Être Farms — St. Joseph, Michigan
Give me a beautiful Michigan farm, a couple in love, and Lake Michigan nearby and I am one happy photographer.
I just recently heard about this venue myself and I am here to share it with you!
Être Farms is definitely one of the venues I’d love to explore with my camera. There’s something about farm weddings that creates such a beautiful combination of elegance and relaxed Michigan charm.
This is not your normal barn wedding. The beauty is a must see for yourself kinda thing!

14. Tabor Hill — Buchanan, Michigan
Wine country + wedding photography?
Yes.
Tabor Hill is another venue that I’d love to experience firsthand. I can already imagine the vineyard portraits, sunset light, champagne moments, and all the little details that make a wedding day feel like a getaway.

Grand Rapids & West Michigan Venues
15. New Vintage Place — Grand Rapids, Michigan
I love venues that have character. CHECK OUT THE VIBE HERE.
New Vintage Place has that industrial-meets-elegant feeling that can give wedding photographs so much personality. I would love to see what I could create there with a couple who wants something modern, stylish, and a little different.
16. The Ivy House — Saugatuck, Michigan
Saugatuck + greenhouse + weddings + photography =
A pretty perfect combination.
The Ivy House is another venue I would absolutely love to photograph. West Michigan has such a distinct charm, and I can imagine creating a gallery here that feels romantic, relaxed, and timeless.

17. Colony Club – Detroit MI
This is historic.
Just impeccable.
An event space for weddings and private events in Detroit.
Featuring gold leaf ceilings, glimmering crystal chandeliers, and exquisite Louis XVI décor, it offers an unparalleled experience for any occasion.
I want to shoot there.
AND I AM! Cannot wait until December 2026 so I can update this photos with one of my own!

Chelsea & Southeast Michigan
18. Chelsea Clock Tower / The Collins at the Clocktower — Chelsea, Michigan
Historic downtown Chelsea, beautiful architecture, and a wedding?
Yes, please.
I love the idea of being able to incorporate the character of the town into a wedding gallery instead of keeping every photograph inside the venue.
And the clock of course!

19. Shepherd’s Hollow Golf Club — Clarkston, Michigan
Golf-course wedding but make it EXTRA.
A glasshouse style reception hall.
Tall pine trees spanning the property. The black and white checkered dance floors of my dreams!
If I had to pick only one from my list….it would be this one. Might want to get married here myself!

And Then There Are the Wild Cards…
20. The War Memorial — Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan
Historic, elegant, and right on the water.
That combination is hard to beat.
I would love the opportunity to photograph a wedding here with a mix of grand architectural portraits and softer waterfront moments.
I don’t know how I’d choose one for myself, even if I had the opportunity.
